NuSounds Concert January 19th Park Theatre
Guitarist and composer Greg Lowe presents an evening of new music inspired by places and events experienced over the last year. Each piece has its own story and sound. Textures will be changing throughout the concert featuring musicians Ron Paley on accordion, Leonard Shaw on sax and keyboards, Walle Larsson on sax and flute, Daniel Koulack on mandolin, banjo and guitar, Daniel Roy on drums and kitchen utensils, Gilles Fournier on acoustic bass and Bruce Jacobs on electric bass.
Three works are inspired by theater projects Lowe has composed music for over the last year. Playwright Carolyn Grays The Miser was produced by Theatre Projects Manitoba and features accordion and mandolin. Trish Coopers play Social Studies produced by Prairie Theatre Exchange features two saxes and banjo. Morris Panychs Dishwashers inspired a tango featuring a variety of dishwashing percussion.
Other pieces were composed at favorite locations on Lake Of The Woods. Butteryfly Island, Down On the Dock and Lost But Not Forgotten which features two basses.
Each piece paints a unique soundscape creating a concert full of variety, humour and great musicianship.
